About This Blog

My name is Jessica. Jessica means “God’s Grace” and “God is watching.” When you are born with a name, I believe you grow to live up to your name.  I am the woman I am today because of my experiences and the people who have come and gone into my life.

I am a proud graduate from Michigan State University, where I  received my B.A. in Communications in Arts and Sciences and a minor in Public Relations and Spanish.  I worked as a Development Coordinator at the Ounce of Prevention Fund for four years, a nonprofit organization in Chicago that works to ensure that all children, particularly those in poverty, have quality early childhood experiences from birth to age five.

Now I work at Groupon on the Social Innovation Team as the Manager of Groupon's Employee Volunteer Program for our North America offices and London office. I set-up and manage monthly employee volunteer activities and find ways to leverage our employee's talents outside of the office for good through skills-based and pro-bono volunteer opportunities.

In addition to my career, I am passionate about helping others and am an active board member on the Young Associates Board, a non-profit affiliated organization of Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago that is committed to providing hope for children with brain tumors.

As you can see not only am I one busy chick.  I am philanthropic go-getter girl who is always doing a million things.  We all play so many "roles" in life and learning how to juggle everything and live a balanced life is a daily battle.  We all have things we want to change and do with our lives, and mine is learning how to balance my career, my active lifestyle all the while continuing to find myself.  I love to write about anything- working out, relationships, cooking, my hobbies- really anything is possible.

Life is unpredictable.  Some moments will rock us to our core and others will inspire us.  Everyday is a new day where we get the chance to DO something, whatever it may be.

This blog is about me finding ways to live a full and balanced life one day at a time and not being afraid of making changes.  I want to inspire and motivate others to live life to the fullest in every way they can and with no regrets.  Life is that much sweeter when you fill it with the things you love and share your generosity with others.

This is my story....  Charitable Chick Defined
